The case for illiquid investing (The Aust 07/08/18)

In recent years, private markets — or illiquid investments — have become a crucial part of portfolio management in regions such as Europe.

The popularity of these investments is due to low-income returns from the public markets, especially on the back of low or even negative interest rates in fixed income. Another frequent comment during my travels was that the problem with fixed income is “you don’t want to be fixed and there is no income!”
